Krishna district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh is an administrative district and is located in the coastal region of the state consisting of twenty towns. The headquarters is in Machilipatnam and the most populous city in this district is Vijayawada. The district is surrounded by the west Godavari in the east, Bay of Bengal in the south, Nalgonda and Guntur in the west and Khammam district in the north. There are four revenue divisions in this district and each division has a sub-collector. There are five municipalities. Interestingly the district has a population of around 45,29,009 people. The official language of the village is Telugu and people there also speak Urdu and English.

The district of Krishna has a total area of eight thousand seven hundred twenty-seven square kilometers. The district derived its name from the river Krishna which flows through the state of Andhra Pradesh. This river originates in the state of Maharashtra and joins the Bay of Bengal in the Krishna District and hence the name.

The district has rich soil and hence agriculture is one of the most popular professions here. Paddy is the main crop with some other crops such as millets which are farmed too. There are industries such as the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station, KCP Sugar Factory at Vuyyuru and the Bharat Electrical Limited which can be found in this district.
